MISSION
PAR FORE is a mentor program that utilizes therapeutic principles
inherent in the sport of golf to foster positive personal, social, and physical
growth and development.
VISION
The environmental context and activity demands of golf can foster a sense
of self, a cooperative spirit, and productive personal, social, cultural, and
physical skills necessary for adult success.
VALUES
PAR FORE (Perseverance, Accountability, Resiliency, Fellowship,
Opportunity, Respect, and Empowerment) is a program developed by
faculty from the School of Health Technology and Management's
Occupational Therapy Program that is based on three very important
concepts of adolescent living: (1) engagement in purposeful activity and
occupations, (2) development of a sense of meaningful existence, and (3)
their contextual adaptation (physical, cultural, and social environment).
The program has expanded since 2007. Touro College and Stony Brook
University have established a collaboration in an effort to expand
programming.
